This page describes regular PolyLab equipment. If you have questions about the setup or want to donate some gear, please contact us.
We have a cluster of 30 PCs dedicated for running Polygraph tests. Each PC has:
All PCs are running tuned FreeBSD 3.1-RELEASE OS. The machines are able to generate at least 700 req/sec stream under DataComm-1 workload (a ``no-proxy'' experiment).
All switches and routers in this section are donated by or loaned from the corresponding companies.
We have been working with several vendors on stress testing their caches. Some vendors found it useful to leave their boxes with us for evaluation purposes and to make sure they are compatible with new versions of Polygraph. The Lab currently hosts these proxies:
Five general purpose PCs that we sometimes use for small scale tests or for running proxy software. A Digital Alpha 1200 box with a disk shelf (an equipment and research grant from DEC/Compaq).
At least 100 hand-made Ethernet cables.
